Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and HitchRoute, operated by Mastakel Systems ("HitchRoute," "we," "us," or "our"), governing your use of hitchroute.com and the HitchRoute mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility and accounts

The Service is intended for users age 18 and older. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your account credentials secure, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Accounts are personal to you and may not be sold, transferred, or shared.

2. The Service

HitchRoute helps campers discover campgrounds and RV parks, build profiles, check in at locations, connect with other campers, and read and leave reviews. HitchRoute is a discovery and community platform, not a booking or reservation service — where a "Book Now" link is shown for a listing, it directs you to the campground's or a third party's own site, and any reservation you make there is between you and that operator, not with HitchRoute.

3. The store

HitchRoute may offer merchandise for purchase through the Service. By placing an order you agree to pay the listed price (including any applicable shipping charges) using a valid payment method. Payments are processed by Stripe; HitchRoute does not store your full card details. Orders are confirmed once payment succeeds, and we'll ship to the address you provide at checkout — it's your responsibility to enter it correctly. Promotional codes and auto-applied promotions are subject to their own eligibility rules and may be limited to one redemption per account. All sales are final except where an item arrives defective, damaged, or incorrect; contact us at hello@hitchroute.com and we'll make it right.

4. Check-ins, reviews, and community content

Check-ins are meant to reflect an actual visit to a location. Reviews, posts, photos, and other content you submit should be honest, your own, and about your real experience. You retain ownership of content you post, but you grant HitchRoute a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it as part of operating the Service (for example, showing your review on a campground's page). You're responsible for the content you post and for having the rights to post it.

5. Rewards and badges

HitchRoute may recognize verified stays with badges or rank tiers displayed on your profile. Badges and ranks are for recognition only, have no cash value, cannot be sold or transferred, and may be changed, recalculated, or discontinued at any time as we refine how they're earned.

6. Messaging, friends, and blocking

Direct messages and friend connections are for genuine communication between campers. You can block another user at any time to stop them from contacting you or seeing your content where blocking applies; blocking is enforced in both directions. Misusing messaging for harassment, spam, or solicitation is prohibited.

7. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

• Post false reviews, fake check-ins, or content you don't have the right to share.
• Harass, threaten, impersonate, or abuse other users.
• Use the Service for spam, solicitation, scraping, or any unauthorized commercial purpose.
• Attempt to access another user's account or interfere with the security or normal operation of the Service.
• Misuse the store, promotions, or rewards system (for example, creating multiple accounts to redeem a one-time promotion more than once).
• Violate any applicable law in connection with your use of the Service.

We may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines.

8. Reporting and moderation

You can report content or users you believe violate these Terms. We review reports and may take action including content removal, warnings, or account suspension, at our discretion, though we can't guarantee a specific outcome for every report.

9. Third-party listings and links

Some campground listings are sourced from public government open-data catalogs or other third parties and may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. HitchRoute doesn't control and isn't responsible for the content, availability, or booking practices of third-party websites linked from the Service.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. HitchRoute does not guarantee the accuracy of listings, reviews, or other user-submitted content, and does not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HitchRoute and Mastakel Systems will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including reliance on listing or review content, or dealings with a third-party campground or operator.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and request deletion of your account via our account deletion page. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as HitchRoute evolves. We'll post the revised Terms at this URL and update the effective date. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
